After a recent reconstruction of the documentation about definitions on this website, John Heron (see photo) send CCIWNS a December 2010 revision of his personal account of the core of CCI. This revision is fully published in the documentation range/theory/definitions directly after the personal descriptions of the core of CCI on this website. In his revision of December 12th he summarises his vision of 'what CCI has the potential to be, and is, in my view in the process of becoming'.
In his personal account he first states that 'I see CCI as a worldwide federation of independent local self-help communities whose members are trained to become competent in whole person development'. In the next item he mentions, that 'this development includes at least seven dynamically interrelated paths'.
6 or 7 ways....
With the same email he sends a document with two drawings of those ways for 'the client'. One shows 6 ways called 'an earlier view by Barbara Langton, of the role of the client in co-counselling. There are six ways of working'. And he mentions that 'the only difference between this view and John Heron's six ways in co-creating is, that it has 'nurturance and self-care' as one of the ways, and does not have 'the way of art'. By the other drawing he states: 'So maybe co-creating has seven ways: Spiritual opening, Celebration of self/others/world, Nurturance and self-care, Healing the memories, Artistic expression and discovery, Creative thinking and problem-solving, Goal-setting and action planning.' Both of those drawings are now implemented in the documentation/practice/co-creating part of this website. They can be used by sessioning and practicing CCI co-creating; the pdf is as well available for prints.
By doing so it also seems helpful to keep the other 6 points in mind he mentions in his revised December 2010 statement. In the third item he mentions that members of CCI 'are trained to work in pairs, taking turns to be in the primary role of self-directed worker and in the supportive role of co-worker'. The fourth says: 'the CCI belief system affirms that the guiding authority for the work of personal development manifests in a uniquely creative way within each worker, an idiosyncratic personal authority which is refined in the crucible of validation and facilitation by co-workers'. In the fifths item he reminds: 'Within the CCI worldwide federation there is no central control of anything'. Number 6 is about leadership within CCI communities; number 7 says: 'there is no one exclusively valid account of the core of CCI'. And finally 'The CC in the acronym CCI can stand for different titles: 'co-counselling 'to bring out CCI's historical roots, 'Co-creation' to affirm its innovative developmental work, 'Cooperative Culture' to assert its status as a leading form of peer to peer social organization'.
CCIWNS is pleased to publish this new wording that in my view certainly contributes to what CCI is becoming in potential to be for the benefit of all. It enhances and gives possibilities to bring our awareness and commitment on another level.
