As usual, we invite yearly the trainers of our world wide list of CCI trainers, by given name and now also by country, in the month they joined that list, to let us know if they intend to stay on that list for the next year. So we mailed also Carol Driscoll. She is one of the first CCI-USA trainers that joined ten years ago, in 2000, our first list. And she answered me this month:' I should be removed from the list of trainers. I am not teaching, have no time in my life to add that to my list of priorities. To leave my name on the list is misleading to your readership.'
And it feels sad to say good bye to Carol – as it does to all who have left that list before.
The list of past-trainers now counts 17 names. Some died and are missed, others called themselves no trainer anymore and of course it is absolutely OK to go on! Please do!
We (i) yearly do thank the listed trainers also for their commitment to CCI to be on our list. Essential for being listed is, that they call themselves an active trainer. That is in my perception also the case, when they have facilitated this year, last year or intend to do next year, a CCI fundamental training. After several years I added to that as well, that they intend to answer any questions from people, wherever on this world, about how they could start learning or guiding them into the CCI approach.
Because that is what trainers – anyway CCI trainers in my perception - do. They 'guide' you, they are busy to pas on how they understand it, how they perceive it and by doing so, show you the way how you might found out how you want to do it yourself. They are no gurus, no boss, no 'teacher' or whatever authoritarian power YOU want to give them. Anyway, that is your own responsibility!
Those who want to stay listed for another year, we ask if the portrait that is published with their statement and /or if the text of that statement is still OK and if not, if they want to re-edit it and or send another picture.
And so it is sad to accept that Carol is from now on, not any more on our list. We feel anyway grateful that she has been – as so many – part of that list, showing her commitment to the CCI approach. We feel grateful that she was – and still is – part of our worldwide community. She keeps her connections with CCI – and she still is the editor of the CCI-USA community newsletter.
Before publishing this text, I send it first to her to honour the editorial policy as is mentioned on this site. She replies: 'This is lovely just the way you have written it. I feel a bit sad reading it and at the same time confident that it is the right thing to do. I have been blessed with many wonderful opportunities to be connected with my fellow travellers, yet for now my energies are devoted elsewhere. I am grateful for the many gifts co-counselling has brought into my life. The skill set serves me well every day and I bring bits of co-counselling into all parts of my life. But I would be remiss if I did not acknowledge the wonderful connections I have made and continue to cherish. I feel connected to people I have never met, so strong is the bond of co-counselling. I gratefully accept and delight in the loving embrace of the virtual group hug. Love, Carol.'
So what is more to be said than, 'thanks Carol for whatever you did and the benefit CCI had by your participation!
You deserve a group hug of the world wide community and I suggest to make it a virtual one! Be well!' niek
