Janice Wasser, Dror's CCI contact person, reports about recent events in this Israelian community:
Men's Group:
facilitated by Yoav Moran, assistants: Micha Rosenzweig, Leonid Michael: to create a safe space where men can work on releasing oppressive behaviors, a space for cooperation in creating a supportive environment for men to express themselves, to discharge and break away from negative patterns.
Class on Age:
facilitated by Luiza Namizov, assistant: Ety Cohen: The motto: I am committed to continue living my life and not slow the pace as I get older, to heal from every wound or illness, to live my life with pleasure and confidence using my wisdom knowing that the universe will comply with realizing my ultimate dreams.
Sessions Gathering:
Once every 3-5 weeks we arrange an evening for sessions. There is a short intro with a brief offering of theory (or not) and lots of time for sessions. We hope to encourage members to come for sessions and find partners to meet up with outside of the arranged gatherings. Three groups have been running in different areas: in Jerusalem, in Hod HaSharon and in Neve Monoson.
Upcoming workshop:
Solving Conflicts: Jump into the fire, and cook up Love! Special guest facilitator: Marlies Tjallingii together with Luiza Namizov will offer theory on resolving conflicts and becoming allies with our "former enemies" or groups in conflict – i.e. family, friends, relationships at work, political groups, and ethnic groups.
Arab-Jewish Support Group
Monthly meetings in Nazareth (which began over 30 years ago) - all are welcome to learn how the methods of co-counseling enable people from different backgrounds, religions, ages and political opinions to come together to support each other and gain strength from the group for our personal struggles.
teaching Dror Fundamentals in Prisons
For 8 years now, our veteran teacher, Avi Butavia has been teaching co-counseling fundamentals in three prisons in the center of Israel. Participants who complete the fundamentals and are released from prison are welcome to join the Dror Community. After 12 classes of the course, a workshop is arranged in the prison where co-counselors are invited to participate with the graduating class.
Co-counseling for Youth at Risk
A new program has started in a school for adolescents at high-risk. The students meet in small groups with a co-counselor where the principles of co-counseling are demonstrated through structured conversations. At the end of the term, parents are invited to meet with the co-counselor and the group of students. Staff from the school are invited to participate in the group meetings.
