committee

Saturday morning of the CCI-USA 2010 meeting was, as usual, almost 'overcrowded' with workshops! I decided to attend a meeting of the CCI-USA strategic planning committee. Most of the discussion was reserved for brainstorming about community building, supporting trainers in action, recruiting people, co-housing, what do we have to offer, interactive learning, modern communication tools like Skype, what is unique in CCI etc.

A product of this CCI-USA strategic planning committee is the vision and mission statement, earlier agreed by the Business meeting of the CCI-USA corporation.

vision and mission

The vision is: 'co-counseling is a well respected and firmly established practice for achieving emotional health, personal clarity, and self-fulfillment.'And 'the mission of CCI-USA is to maintain, promote and develop the practice, culture, and theory of Co-counselling regionally and nationally through an energetic and focused peer community of individuals committed to the practice and vision of co-counseling.'These vision and mission were obvious present on the wall of the main hall of the meeting. The welcoming booklet for this meeting contains also the Co-Counseling International Guidelines of 1974, the CCI-USA Community Operating Guidelines with references the definition of CCI by John Talbut in September 1990, withdrawn by him after the publication of 'a definition of CCI' by John Heron (1994), the bylaws for CCI-USA, Inc., a consensus process flowchart of CCI-USA, and their consensus guidelines, latest adopted in November 1999.In their meeting we also talked about how to inform at schools younger people about CCI and its approach of emotional stuff. There even was a suggestion to stop talking about 'CCI teachers' but to use the term trainers, because we are no gurus but trainers to assure and guide people how to handle their emotions themselves in a accepting and supportive environment. Next meeting will be on Monday, May 12.
