This historical overview is based on a booklet 'handling your emotions' issued in autumn 2001 in Dutch by Niek Sickenga, reviewed by him and Graham Howie, April 2004, and updated again by him in spring 2010 for this website. the roots

One of the major political and cultural trends of the twentieth century was emancipation - the expansion of basic human rights, the freedom to be self-determining. For example, women gained the vote, former colonies became self-governing, there was a great levelling of class structures, we experienced women's liberation, the men's movement.

CCI emerges

The emerge of CCI was by no means accidental and had everything to do with the hierarchal remains of the formerly structure of our society in general. That seems to be a long term process, looking back to those days of the 1970.
